The actual process of sublimation involves placing a sublimation transfer that has been printed on paper onto polyester or polymer-coated material and then applying heat (usually with a heat press) to both. The heat changes the solid print on the paper into a gas, which then prints into the polymer surface.

The operative word here is "into". In addition to the heat causing the sublimation process, it also opens up the polymer so the gas actually goes into the surface coating. When the heating cycle is completed, the image on the paper has been transferred to the item and has actually become a part of the surface. Seconds after the surface starts to cool, the gas reverts back to a solid and the polymer closes back up, trapping the solid. This is why you can run your finger across the surface of a sublimated item and you will not feel anything.

The reason for this is that sublimation is always done on a polyester, polymer, or polymer coated item. At high temperatures, the solid dyes in the print converts into a gas without ever becoming a liquid. The high temperature also opens the pores of the polymer and allows the gas to enter. When the item is removed from the heat press, the temperature drops, the pores close and the gas reverts to a solid state. It has now become a part of the polymer. Done correctly, it cannot be washed out or come off, unless the actual fibers or coating is damaged.

99.9% of inkjet sublimation is done on white materials (substrates is the technical term). The reason for this is because the inks are actually transparent, when sublimated, and need a background to show up. White is the ideal background because it does not clash with the colors. Indeed, the white background actually enhances the colors. This allows us to print a wide gamut of vibrant, brilliant colors on multiple substrates.

Please include a valid email, so that we can get further instructions for your personal photo, graphic or logo. We will use that information to contact you and begin your order. We will contact you within 48 hours, if necessary.

Once you decide on a design we will then ask you to send us a graphic of the design you wish to use in the item or items you have ordered. (Unless you have chosen one of our pre-designed items) We reserve the right to alter, fix, or crop your image to achieve the most satisfying result. If necessary, we would send a "Proof" for your final approval. We will use email to finalize the design.

We require a high quality graphic to reproduce your design onto the product of your choice. Art for Sublimation must be submitted at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. This includes all imported, linked images, and photographs. The image must also be to the size of your chosen item or larger at the higher resolutions. Enlarging the image results in degradation of the image. Please make sure your pictures are at least 400 by 600 pixels or more. Pictures taken from the Internet are usually 72 DPI. Well below our 300 dpi minimum and are not acceptable for quality products. [BMP] [TIF] [JPG] [GIF] [PNG] [CDR] [AI] [PSD] [EPS] [PDF] files are acceptable, 300 dpi please. Custom Imprinted Orders: When placing your order for custom imprinted items, don't forget to email us your artwork. Check out the submitting your artwork guidelines page for more information and template guidelines.

Artwork should be good quality, since your printed items depend on it. Files should be scanned at a DPI of 300 or better and are sufficient when the artwork is equal to or larger than the item being printed. We also accept CDR (CorelDraw), AI (Adobe Illustrator), PSD (Photoshop) files, and most other common image formats such as BMP, JPG, PNG, TIF, etc.

Poor quality artwork WILL result in poor quality imprinted items. Since we prefer not to do inferior workmanship, we may decline to produce your order until acceptable artwork can be provided. If good artwork cannot be provided, we may be able to design something (there is an additional charge for design work). In extreme cases, we reserve the right to cancel your order. In no event however will we cancel or delay your order without immediately attempting to notify you and remedy the situation.

Shipping: Wannab Web doesn't charge handling fees for any orders. We ship via Ground whenever possible. "Ground" refers to any method of shipment which we deem appropriate for your order, including, but not limited to US Mail, UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, Airborne Ground, or common carrier. Other more expensive and faster shipping methods such as Next or Second Day Air are available to you as an option. These methods will result in your being charged additional shipping costs.

Returns, Refunds, & Exchanges: Custom imprinted items are not eligible for return, exchange, or refund at all, UNLESS there is an error that is our fault. For this and other reasons, we recommend you purchase a single item as a sample for your approval prior to placing larger orders. Once you approve the item we send you and you place your order for a larger quantity of that exact same item, we will credit you the difference in price between the single item and the item price break your order falls into.

Slight differences in colors, shades, and/or lighting between your original artwork and the finished product are normal and to be expected. Also keep in mind that there will be some differences due to substrates. For example, a matte photo may appear dull in the actual photo, but when printed onto a shiny surface such as a coffee mug will appear different. As such, these differences do not constitute an acceptable reason for refund or exchange.
